ABOUT Us

The primary point person for Habit Artist Services is Desiree Raywood, a smart and sassy executive with a linear and logical business acumen, who spent the better part of her formative years (that's career years) in a busy and prestigious major label A&R department.

Desiree is a 15 year Music Marketing/Artist Development/Public Relations professional who began her career at Sony Music Publishing and worked her way up to being a major player in the Epic Records A&R department.

As part of the A&R Staff, and executive assistant to Michael Goldstone -- A&R genius, Desiree spent the better part of the 1990's working with, and for, such artists as Pearl Jam, Rage Against The Machine, Satchel, Brad, Three Fish, Shudder To Think, Ozzy Osbourne and the Home Alive Benefit CD. Her efforts and growing profile yielded a career move to DreamWorks Records as part of the initial team of company executives. While there, Desiree worked with Rufus Wainwright and alt-jazz band Morphine. She also began to work with Boston-based soul troubadour Martin Sexton. Desiree departed DreamWorks to take on the role as exclusive manager to Martin Sexton. She developed and executed strategy that guided Martin's career trajectory to Atlantic Records and beyond.

Currently a freelance Music Marketing/Artist Services/Public Relations specialist, Desiree runs her business from a wood shingle Clubhouse located in the Adirondack Mountains. With high speed internet, the most sophisticated and current Mac OS X technology and the ability to type and talk at the same time, her work days are busy and productive.

Desiree has an established and credible reputation among artists, music executives and journalists for her no-nonsense style and high level understanding of what the artist needs to build momentum and reach new levels of success. She excels at forging new relationships, maximizing opportunity and producing results for her clients.

Habit Artist Services provides short-term, project-based assistance to a wide range of indie artists. Additionally, Desiree is responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day music business of artist Sloan Wainwright (sister to folk-icon Loudon Wainwright, auntie to the next generation of Wainwright stars; Rufus and Martha) and singer songwriter Chris Trapper of The Push Stars.

Working her way up from executive gatekeeper to a very-important-A&R-guy, to the girl in charge of marketing his bands' new releases, to indie artist manager and indie artist publicist - it wasn't a stretch to add the complete range of indie artist services to her repertoire.

The rest, as they say, is history.
Well, not so much history as that's exactly what she does today.
